S.Korea, Busan, Beomeosa Temple 범어사

Beomeosa Temple, Beomeosa Station, Line 1, Exit 5.  (take a cab to the temple if you do not want to walk up the hill, it will cost appx W2500 – W3000)

This temple was founded in 678 AD, close to the Busan city, it is a great get away from the city and crowd. The temple is set against Geumjeongsan Mountain, a beautiful and extraordinary sight. Coming to this temple is a breathe of fresh air because of the beautiful mountain setting and this is a temple that the locals visit.  The temple is busy for another reason, it is set on the path leading to the Geumjeong Mountain North Gate hiking starting point. If you take the path up the North Gate climb on the “rock stream” and you will see the North Gate Fortress. It is a small fortress…quite disappointed after all the climb on the rock stream …however is a good exercise.. On the way up, you  can challenge the local elder folks and you realized they are far healthier and stronger than any young man…

busy yet quiet …feels the inner peace with the peaceful surrounding…

“rock stream”, a nature formation of rocks deposit rolled down from the slope of the rocky peak and ridges… you could actually hear the flow of water stream underneath the huge rocks…the sight is amazing….

after climbing “up-stream” on the rock stream, this is what you see… a small fortress….the thought of climbing “down stream” on the rock stream back to the starting point .. ok, just want to take a longer rest… no more climbing…totally exhausted…

An experience to visit a local popular temple followed by a short track up rock stream to see a small fortress… a test of our endurance and embrace the beautiful nature around us.. be thankful and grateful for everything we have and enjoy life to the fullest..

physically exhausted and drained from the climbing but mentally charged, happy and satisfied …
